Happy spring everyone! It’s so hard to believe it’s already here. This is yet another time full of excitement and busy times for us here at Open Arms as we prepare for the kiddos to head into summer, then Kindergarten! This last month has been about Dr. Seuss, Fairy Tales, nursery Rhymes, spring break and Dinosaurs. We love these themes and the kids have fun with them, too. During Dr. Seuss time, we even snack on real green eggs and ham!
Our Bible stories have been about Jesus calming the sea and the Prodigal Son. It’s a shorter month so we only had two stories, followed by a review the last week of the month. It’s always interesting how well the kids know the stories by the time we have that last week of Bible review. They enjoy telling them back to me by Friday of each week, and then all of them that last week of the month.
I want to thank Dane Stratton and his co-workers for taking the time to teach the PreK classes all about Police Services, the SWAT team and the K9 unit. It was indeed the best of any Police Days we’ve ever had here at Open Arms. Thank you again! You’ve set the bar high now for upcoming years. It was indeed the highlight of the month for the kiddos!
Now, as we enter into spring, we will start talking about insects, plants, Easter and many other fun spring-themed things. We will have a great time getting ready for Easter festivities with our kiddos, which includes an Easter egg hunt, of course. We expect to welcome our ladybug larvae and caterpillars soon as we watch them hatch and prepare to set them free at our Mother’s Day Tea.
On that note, let us know if you’d be interested in helping with food preparation and/or serving at our Mother’s Day Tea event! We will have a minimum of sixty people to serve this year, so our little staff of three could sure use your help! The many ladies of Saint John’s who helped last year blessed the mothers and grandmothers at this event much more than you can possibly know. We leave no detail behind at this event because we want to truly honor the mothers of these children that attend our program. We are blessed to have wonderful families here who truly care about each other, the church and the staff. The grace and compassion these families show to our staff is amazing, and we just love to spoil them here at the end of the year.
Other events coming soon will be the Spring Program May 16 and Graduation May 24, to which all congregation members are invited. Watch the bulletin and next month’s newsletter for details! Parent conferences will be April 25 and 26.
Best wishes during this upcoming season of new life and renewal! God Bless!
