On April 12 and 13, our Heseder group filled the Large Fellowship Hall and front lawn with your donations to be sold in a stupendous effort to raise money for mission trips to New Orleans, Peru and India.

For two days, people from around Fort Collins pored over furniture, bikes, electronics, clothing, pots and pans, games, jewelry and untold other items looking for great deals.

All this merchandise to move, and yet, on Saturday afternoon, the Fellowship Hall was so clean you would have assumed it hadn’t been used all week! Leftover items were donated to Saint John’s Clothing Bank and to ARC Thrift Store.

By the end of the sale, we had raised over $3,500 for our missions. With a Thrivent supplement of $1,500, that’s over $5,000 to support our Heseders.

Many thanks to everyone who made this garage sale possible, from the organizers to the helpers to all those who donated items. What a great effort!

We’re making this an annual effort, so please keep the garage sale in mind when cleaning up around your home. What might you have to donate for next year’s sale?

“Hesed” is a Hebrew word that means “kindness”, “mercy”, “loyalty”, “loving-kindness” or “steadfastness.” It’s the way God intends us to live together—a “love your neighbor as yourself”, active, selfless, sacrificial, caring-for-one-another brand of living contradictory to our fallen natures. The “Heseders” are continually looking to work together to share some small measure of God’s extraordinary love. Won’t you join us?
