Kimberly Pepmiller just returned from Tanzania, where she was serving on a week-long Mercy Medical Team. Check out her blog and great pictures included in the newsletter. Kimberly was also in St.Louis being trained as an MMT leader! Next year, she will be leading an MMT to a mission field, likely in Africa. Stay tuned for where and when you could join her in 2017!
The annual Yard Sale is Friday and Saturday, June 3 and 4. Please bring your donations to the Large Fellowship Hall beginning Sunday, May 29. We would appreciate volunteers to assist with set up starting Tuesday evening through Thursday. Please sign up at the Welcome Center, or feel free to just show up for a few hours. If you would like to assist during the sale on Friday and Saturday, please do sign up so we can be sure the stations are covered. And if you like to shop, have we got some good stuff for you!
A note on donations: please, no TVs or computer monitors (unless they are flatscreen) or other large electronics. The Heseders have to pay to have these recycled when they don’t sell. Household items tend to go very well. If you need help with delivery to the church, check with Joel Sanford (817-1174). A truck will be making the rounds for a day or two before the sale.
We appreciate all the donations, but especially appreciate everyone who comes to shop! Don’t forget to come by Friday or Saturday, June 3 and 4, for the sale!
We have a team of nine Heseders going to Peru July 16–22. They will be continuing construction work on buildings in a Shipibo village. In addition to construction projects, we will also offer a medical clinic for the villagers. We will be seeking donations of medical and other items to distribute in the remote village on the Amazon River. Please watch your bulletin in June for needed donations! As always, thanks for your endless generosity.
The next Heseder meeting is at 5:00 PM on Sunday, May 15, at the home of Don and Sharon Gibbons. We will have a business meeting then a meal together. If you would like to join the Heseders, please give Sharon a call (635-9683) so she can plan accordingly. All are welcome to come and join in our mission planning.
“Hesed” is a Hebrew word that means “kindness”, “mercy”, “loyalty”, “loving-kindness” or “steadfastness.” It’s the way God intends us to live together—a “love your neighbor as yourself,” active, selfless, sacrificial, caring-for-one-another brand of living contradictory to our fallen natures. The “Heseders” are continually looking to work together to share some small measure of God’s extraordinary love. Won’t you join us?
