This summer Heartline Ministries is Haiti is holding their first-ever summer camp, giving sixty Haitian girls a chance to enjoy two months (July 1 to August 30) of hot meals and training in sewing and craft-making. John McHoul writes, “I suppose you have to live in Haiti or a country like Haiti to understand what a big deal this camp will be. There simply is not much that happens in the summer months when students are out of school. And generally the kids just hang around. If there are programs, they often cost way too much for a poor family to afford. The sign-up for this camp will be intense, as I expect several hundred will vie for the sixty spots.”

Heartline is able to offer this amazing opportunity to these sixty girls for a total of $6,000—$100 per girl. This pays for “all materials needed, the teachers, a hot meal, a new graduation backpack with school supplies inside and, of course, instruction in God's word.”

The Heseders dug into their pockets to raise $300 to support three girls who wanted to attend the summer camp.

Brenda, one of the missionaries at Heartline Ministries, writes: “Dear Hesed Mission Group, Thank you so much for your donation supporting the young women's summer school program. You play an essential and very appreciated role in the continued ministry of Heartline. Your donation will be converted and reach into the lives of young women providing hope for their future. There never seems to be adequate words for what is in our heart, so we simply say ‘Thank you so very much for making a difference in Haiti’.”

“Hesed” is a Hebrew word that means “kindness”, “mercy”, “loyalty”, “loving-kindness” or “steadfastness.” It’s the way God intends us to live together—a “love your neighbor as yourself”, active, selfless, sacrificial, caring-for-one-another brand of living contradictory to our fallen natures. The “Heseders” are continually looking to work together to share some small measure of God’s extraordinary love. Won’t you join us?
