Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Estes Park sends many thanks for the donations of money and quilts from Saint John’s. We raised $3,400 from our congregation for their affected members, and that amount will be supplemented by money from the local chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. Saint John’s Quilter donated ten gorgeous quilts to be used by members of Mount Calvary.
Nine members of Saint John’s went to Estes Park on October 12 to volunteer their labor. Jobs included tearing up wooden flooring, breaking down paneled walls and painting. Approximately thirty hours of labor were given in addition to the above donations.
For those interested in future volunteer work in Estes: the Volunteer Clearing House has closed and coordination of volunteers is now being done through the Rocky Mountain Church as well as United Way and Volunteers of America.
Please continue to keep in your prayers all those who lost homes, possessions, and family members in the September floods.
“Hesed” is a Hebrew word that means “kindness”, “mercy”, “loyalty”, “loving-kindness” or “steadfastness.” It’s the way God intends us to live together—a “love your neighbor as yourself”, active, selfless, sacrificial, caring-for-one-another brand of living contradictory to our fallen natures. The “Heseders” are continually looking to work together to share some small measure of God’s extraordinary love. Won’t you join us?
