Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
As you know, the world we live in has changed dramatically in the last couple of weeks. The spread of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) here in the United States and even in Colorado has changed how we will live day to day for a while. Following the recommendations of our governing authorities and the CDC we will be canceling all church-related activities through April 17 and continuing with online services only.
This decision was not taken lightly, but was made after serious thought, discussion and prayer among the members of the executive committee of our church council and myself. There is a lot that is unknown about this virus and the best course of action is to err on the side of caution and safety. Since we love our neighbor, we do not want to put anyone at risk, nor do we want to be part of the potential spread of this virus.
In the meantime, we are blessed to be able to stream our services live online from our website stjohnsfc.org. After services are concluded they may also be accessed for up to two weeks by clicking the YouTube link below the video on the live stream page. We will be sending you a booklet with liturgies and hymns to make it a bit easier for you to follow along. You may also come by the church during office hours and check out a hymnal.
I encourage you to continue to support the church with your tithes and offerings by mail, drop off or online payment by visiting our website and clicking on the “donate” link.
During the trying and challenging days ahead, I encourage us to live as the body of Christ. Encourage each other, call each other, check in on each other as you're able. Pray for each other, for our church, for our community, for our nation and for our world.
If you are over the age of seventy or have a weak or compromised immune system, please let this body of Christ help you. Should you need someone to pick up your groceries, medications, etc., please let me or the church office know. We have people in this body of Christ who are willing and happy to help you.
Finally, in these days of uncertainty and anxiousness, recall the Lord's words to Isaiah which are for us as well: “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” (Isaiah 40:10) The Lord is with us and He will see us through these difficult days.
Serving you in Christ,
Pastor Shawn Nettleton
