The church council meets on the third Tuesday of every month. If you have a question or comment about a topic you read about here—or about anything pertaining to the life of Saint John’s—please contact one of your Council members. Here is a summary of the Council meeting of August 20:
July income was the lowest of the year so far. Expenses were also down. We have a deficit of approximately $5,500 year to date and it looks like it will continue to trend down. The Treasurer’s report was unanimously approved.
Preschool was discussed. The break-even point for enrolled students is seventeen. Only eight children have signed up. A 1,500 mailing went out today.
Board reports were given for the following boards: Adult Education, Stewardship, HR, Human Needs, Trustees, Finance Board, Worship, Outreach, Elderberries, Preschool and Lay Ministers.
Call information was distributed to Council. It was noted that this information is private and sensitive information and should remain strictly confidential within the Call Committee.
The congregational meeting was approved for November 17. The Council meeting for November will be changed to November 12.
The thirteen members of the Church Council are the “Board of Directors” of the congregation, tasked with general oversight of the life and activities of the congregation to the end that everything be done in accordance with the Constitution and Bylaws.
