The church council meets on the third Tuesday of every month. If you have a question or comment about a topic you read about here—or about anything pertaining to the life of Saint John’s—please contact one of your Council members. Here are the notes from the July 23, 2013, meeting.

We closed out the month with a deficit of $1,457.57. This leaves us $3,328.05 negative for the year.

The preschool has nine enrollees so far for the fall. Seventeen is the break-even point. There was discussion on how to get the word out about this important ministry.

Ron Young reported that we have turned in fourteen names to the District. One of the names did not qualify because the pastor had not been at his church for three years. It will be six to eight weeks before we hear from the District.

Ron Young reported that our Thrivent Choice Dollars have fallen drastically. We need to get information and reminders out to the congregation to designate their Choice Dollars to Saint John’s, Open Arms Preschool or Saint John’s Foundation.

The Trustees have done quite a bit of landscape maintenance around the Church and will be continuing that task over the next several weeks.

Ross Shaw was thanked for all his hard work in organizing, cataloging and filing all the plans for the church building.

Seminarian Nikolai Gibbons will deliver the sermon on his last Sunday here for the summer, August 25.

The thirteen members of the Church Council are the “Board of Directors” of the congregation, tasked with general oversight of the life and activities of the congregation to the end that everything be done in accordance with the Constitution and Bylaws.
