The church council meets on the Third Tuesday every month, and will use this space to provide a monthly summary of the discussions and decisions coming out of those meetings. If you have a question or comment about a topic you read about here—or, really, anything pertaining to the life of Saint John’s—please contact one of your Council members. Here’s the report from Council’s January 15 meeting.
Your generous offerings in December have put us in the black for the year and allowed us to start the New Year on a sound financial footing!
We’re excited to have some new faces on the council this month. A warm welcome to Nancy Behm, Tim Maxwell, Pat Prill and Jeff Wolf.
The many functions of Saint John’s are overseen by boards made up of volunteer members like you. Some of these groups are active, and some are in need of revitalization. Please consider which one(s) you can help with, and let your council liaison person, listed below, know.

Our dear friend and former member, Pastor Tom Van der Bloemen, who helped guide us during our last vacancy, has agreed to come to our aid again. He will help Pastor Nickel by visiting sick and shut-in members, assisting in worship and teaching a New Member Class, beginning soon.
Saint John’s received a wonderful letter from our daughter congregation, Peace With Christ Lutheran, offering their assistance and prayers as we go through the call process. Please find this letter printed on the next page.
In the spirit of this cooperation, Saint John’s will be combining with Peace With Christ, for Lenten worship and fellowship. Saint John’s will host our traditional 11:00 AM service with lunch following, and Peace with Christ will hold an evening meal and worship services. We are all invited to attend at either (or both) locations. See you there (or here)!
The thirteen members of the Church Council are the “Board of Directors” of the congregation, tasked with general oversight of the life and activities of the congregation to the end that everything be done in accordance with the Constitution and Bylaws.
