The incarnate Son of God is revealed as the Savior and “as a light for the nations” whose salvation reaches around the world. John the Baptist revealed Jesus as “the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world,” recalling the Holy Spirit descending from heaven at Jesus’ baptism in the waters of the Jordan. In baptism, we are anointed by the same Spirit and adopted by God the Father. We are saved and sustained by the Light of the World and “not lacking in any gift” as we await His revealing.
