Apart from Christ, our life and works—no matter how they may glitter to the eyes of the world—are rubbish. Instead it is in the scandalous cross of Jesus that we find our righteousness. God has done this for us in Christ Jesus. He sent His beloved Son into the vineyard to be killed by sinful men and to become “the stone that the builders rejected.” The one rejected by men has become the cornerstone of His Church. He now provides us daily refreshment in our earthly pilgrimage.
