Jesus was anointed by the Spirit of the Lord “to proclaim liberty to the captives … to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor.” Christ releases His people from captivity and gathers them to His Church. When God returned His people to Jerusalem, the whole congregation was sanctified by the reading and preaching of the Law. We are anointed to share in this feast and to serve the fellow members of His Body with His good gifts.
