On the eve of our National Day of Thanksgiving, the people of God rejoice and give thanks to the Lord who gives all good things to His creation and people everywhere. He who made us and all creatures and still takes care of us has given us a place in His eternal kingdom. The Lord who brought His people out of Egypt into a land flowing with milk and honey has, through His “surpassing grace” and “inexpressible gift” in Christ Jesus, brought us to a place of eternal bounty.
Foolish are those who lay up treasures for themselves, but are “not rich toward God.” Life does not consist in “the abundance of possessions,” but in the God who is “able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.”
Flowing from our confession of the Gospel of Christ, we submit to one another in service to our neighbor, supporting the work of the Church and serving in our daily vocations.
