Despite its grandeur, the Jerusalem temple would be torn down. So, too, will this present world and its kingdoms come to an end. But the temple pointed beyond itself, to Christ, to His sacrifice upon the Cross and to the resurrection of His Body as the true, eternal Temple of God. Through Him are His people delivered. And by the wisdom of His Gospel, He wakes the “many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth” to everlasting life.
