After rescuing Israel from bondage in Egypt, the Lord took His people under His wing, feeding them and making Himself known among them. Christ rescued us from the bondage of sin, and we are nourished by the true bread from heaven, the Son who “comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.” This is food that “endures to eternal life,” that relieves all hunger and thirst. We partake in Jesus’ body and blood and are bound together in one hope, “one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all.”
