The Lord Jesus described the yield of the unfaithful servants called to care for His vineyard, the house of Israel, as “wild grapes” of bloodshed and unrighteousness. But in His narrative He promises to redeem the vineyard for Himself through His cross and Passion. He is the true Vine, planted into the ground by His death but yielding good fruit by His resurrection. Among the grapes of this true Vine is the apostle Paul. Once a zealous persecutor of the Church, he “suffered the loss of all things” in order to “gain Christ and be found in Him,” to “know Him and the power of His resurrection.”
