This month we are highlighting the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) grant of $100,000 to the Lutheran Heritage Foundation for “Lutheran Children’s Books for Families Worldwide.” This grant is one of 22 Mission Grants for 2017–2019. In Thailand, China and Mongolia, the Lutheran Church is growing among young believers eager to pass along their new faith to their children. Unfortunately, there are not enough Lutheran children’s books available to these new Christians in their own languages, and the books that are available are often unaffordable.
This Mission Grant will provide Lutheran churches, missionaries and families around the globe with 20,000 translated books. Lutheran Heritage Foundation is translating, publishing and distributing children’s books like “A Child’s Garden of Bible Stories,” “God’s Word for You” and “Bible Stories in Pictures” into many languages. These Bible stories will assist with teaching children about God’s gifts and salvation for generations to come.
Children Need Jesus in Ukraine! Together, we can help these first-generation Christian parents all around the world experience the joy of knowing Jesus in their mother tongue!
Children Need Jesus in Somalia! In regions of the world where it’s dangerous to be a Christian, a small book about Jesus can be tucked away beneath clothing or hidden among other personal possessions. With the support of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League, approximately 20,000 books will be distributed free of charge to families who otherwise could not afford the luxury of a book!
Children Need Jesus in Vietnam! The children's Bible storybooks have been gratefully received and used by Sunday schools and families in Vietnam and by immigrant families in the United States. For many children living in impoverished areas, it is the only book they own—one they can read again and again to hear about the Savior's love for them!
Lutheran Women's Missionary League (LWML) is the official women’s auxiliary of the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod. Since 1942, the LWML has focused on affirming each woman’s relationship with Christ, encouraging and equipping women to live out their Christian lives in active mission ministries and by supporting global missions. For more information on each month’s mission focus, visit LWML.org. Saint John’s Mission Guild (LWML) meets the first Tuesday of each month at 7:00 PM in Room 301. All ladies of the congregation are invited to attend.
