Whoever has a bountiful eye will be blessed, for he shares his bread with the poor.Proverbs 22:9
For two years now, Saint John’s Sunday School has attended the Northern Colorado Feed My Starving Children event. Feed My Starving Children is a non-profit Christian organization committed to feeding God’s children hungry in body and spirit. The approach is simple: children and adult volunteers throughout the U.S. gather to hand-pack meals specifically formulated for malnourished children, and FMSC ships these meals to distribution partners in developing nations. Each bag of food costs about $1.36 and feeds six children. FMSC meals have reached nearly seventy countries around the world.
Last year, we helped pack 653,179 meals for northern Haiti—enough to feed 1,789 children for the whole year! This year we hope you will join us and help us do more! We will be reserving fifty spots for our Sunday School children, youth and any other volunteers who would like to join us! Like the little boy with his five loaves and two fish, God was able to feed 5,000. How many more can God feed with the help of St. John’s?
The event is Saturday, March 4, 2017 at the McKee Building of The Ranch Events Complex. Our shift is from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Please sign up at the Welcome Center; those who are registered will receive a call or email about ride-sharing and a possible meal at church before the event. Please contact Jill Hudak or Pastor Nettleton with questions.
Not able to attend? You can still help! Please consider making a donation. Meals are just 22 cents each, so just $80 feeds a child for a year! Drop your donation into the offering plate marked “Feed My Starving Children.”
The Board of Human Needs finds opportunities for the members of Saint John’s to provide a Christian witness by helping people in the community struggling with daily necessities.
