We have the opportunity to give the gift of knowledge!
Missionaries Eric and Linda Funke, who visited us earlier this summer, have returned to Tanzania and are requesting our help. Their school, Mwadui Lutheran Secondary School, currently only has a large closet as space for their library. They want to give the students a space to research and learn to read for fun. They hope to begin construction before the end of 2015, but the school needs $25,000 for materials before the end of September.
Given that Eric and Linda visited more than sixteen churches this summer, this goal is very doable. As of September 1, they have $12,855! They are over half-way to having what they need for the library. However, they still need $12,145. Can you help? As an added incentive, if all of the money comes in before the end of September, Eric and Linda will post a video of themselves, the students and teachers dancing to the song “Happy.”
The proceeds from the October 11 Fall Fair will go toward this project. You can also make a secure online donation at www.GlobalLutheranOutreach.com/support-funke.html and write in the donation amount next to “Funke: Mwadui Library.” Or you can write a check to Global Lutheran Outreach with “Funke: Mwadui Library” in the memo line and send it to Global Lutheran Outreach, 6709 Ficus Drive, Miramar, FL, 33023. All donations are tax-deductible and every little bit helps!
In September of 2012, Eric Funke, grandson of Bill and Lola Funke, and his wife, Linda, followed God’s call to Tanzania. Eric is teaching math and science at a secondary school while Linda works for the Department of Planning and Development. They work in the East of Lake Victoria Diocese of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Tanzania. Follow their mission work at http://www.globallutheranoutreach.com/blog/funke.
