Alpha Center provides free counseling to young adults at critical times in their lives. They are a Pro-Life organization and Saint John’s has supported them for a number of years as a community outreach program. Jennifer Musgrave worked for Alpha Center in the past, and Kala Lopien is a current employee.
Baby Bottle Drive
This Alpha Center fundraiser will begin on Mother’s Day, May 10. Board members will be handing out empty baby bottles at the Worship Center doors as you exit. Please fill them with change or a check to help support the Alpha Center ministry.
If you have bottles left over from last year, please fill them and bring them in between Mother’s Day and Father’s Day. Each bottle costs Alpha Center a dollar and last year they had over 700 unaccounted for!
Saint John's is always a big supporter of Alpha Center. Let’s do so again this year!
Alpha Center Ambassador
Alpha Center is currently looking for an Ambassador from Saint John’s. If you would like to get more involved with the outreach center and are passionate about the right to life in our community, please consider taking on this role!
The ambassador serves as the primary point person within Saint John's to spread communication, champion what God is doing through Alpha Center and to energize volunteers. They will work with the Alpha Center Volunteer Coordinator. They should be an active participant of Saint John's who demonstrates a strong commitment and dedication to the sanctity of all human life and sexual purity. They will need to adhere to the Statement of Faith, core values, mission statement and policies of Alpha Center, exhibit excellent communication/interpersonal and organizational skills and possess a passion for what God is doing through Alpha Center.
The ambassador will pass along communications to the congregation on behalf of Alpha Center; assist with Alpha Center events or campaigns within Saint John's; recruit, coordinate and energize volunteers for Alpha Center from Saint John's; partner with the Alpha Center Volunteer Coordinator to provide volunteer appreciation events for members of Saint John's who are especially engaged with Alpha Center; and identify and pursue personal passion within Alpha Center’s mission.
Volunteers will be given an initial Ambassador orientation, attend two Ambassador meetings per year, bring a group to tour Alpha Center’s building twice per year, participate in Alpha Center’s Gala as a host, serve as Alpha Center’s baby bottle campaign point person at Saint John's and organize and run one “micro-event” per year.
Please contact Nelly Sanford (337-302-4231) or anyone on the Board of Human Needs if you are interested. The first Ambassador meeting will be in May.
Nelly Sanford chairs Saint John’s Board of Human Needs, which finds opportunities for the members of Saint John’s to provide a Christian witness by helping people in the community struggling with daily necessities.
