School Supplies for Needy Children

If you have not yet picked up a school supply list for the needy children at Laurel Elementary, stop by the church today to do so! Supplies are due to Saint John’s by Sunday, August 10. The Human Needs Board will fill backpacks that day so that they can be delivered to Laurel before the first day of school.

To all of you who have already filled a school supply bag, thanks for bestowing your blessings on others.

This year we are supporting Bauder Elementary as well as Laurel. The staff there is asking for gift cards from King Supers or healthy snacks for children. If you do not have time to shop for school supplies, this is an easy way to donate to a needy family.

Seat Covers for Wind River Lutheran Mission Church

WRLMC has a fifteen-passenger van which they use to pick up between thirty and fifty children each Sunday morning. The seats of the 2001 van were in poor shape and the pastor of the congregation requested assistance. The Board of Human Needs donated $500 of their designed funds toward the vinyl covers. A Thrivent Action Team grant of $250 completed the amount needed.

Pastor Belke sent an email of thanks the in July. The covers are now being used on the church van with much gratitude.

Thanks for your prayers and support of Wind River. Thanks to Gilda Mark, who works on the Reservation, for letting us know of the needs of this community and mission church.

Nelly Sanford chairs Saint John’s Board of Human Needs, which finds opportunities for the members of Saint John’s to provide a Christian witness by helping people in the community struggling with daily necessities.
