Here are a few things you'll want to know about that are happening in December:
Thank You to Our Boy Scouts
Troop 96 donated all the cans and other non-perishable food items that they collected during the October “Cans Around the Oval” food drive to Saint John’s Food and Clothing Bank. Along with the congregation's Thanksgiving Eve donations, the pantry shelves are looking much fuller again!
Christmas Decorating Event
Come enjoy a chili meal and have some fun as we “deck the halls” of Saint John’s for Advent and Christmas. November 30 starting at 11:30 AM in the Large Fellowship Hall.
Midweek Advent Series
The Psalmist says “Wait for the Lord, be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!” But how does one wait for the Lord? How does one wait in the busy season of Advent? How does one wait amid the challenges and struggles of life? December 3, 10 and 17; 11:00 AM and 6:30 PM services, with meals at Noon and 5:45 PM. The prophet Isaiah encourages us to wait for the advent of our Lord with prayer (Isaiah 64:1–9), comfort (Isaiah 40:1–11) and joy (Isaiah 61:1–4, 8–11) this advent season and always!
St. Nicholas is coming to Saint John’s!
The Worship Arts Committee will be selling a large variety of collectible Santa, angel and snowman figurines (from the collection of former-member Norma Kruse) to raise money to update the furnishings and ornamentation of the church, including purchasing banners for the south entry. There will be no prices on the items, just pay what they are worth to you! In the Large Fellowship Hall on December 7 at 10:00 AM and during the First Sunday Potluck. Think of all the people on your Christmas list who would love to have a cute Santa on their mantle!
First Sunday “Eat and Greet” Potluck
Bring a dish to share and stick around after the Bible Study Hour to enjoy good food and great fellowship at this picnic lunch, hosted by the Board of Fellowship. December 7 at 11:30 AM in the Large Fellowship Hall.
