We had a great week of Vacation Bible School! Thank you to everyone who donated various items and to everyone who volunteered their time and energy to plan, decorate, teach, organize and lead a fantastic week of VBS!
Our “Barnyard Roundup” theme was centered on who Jesus is and what He has done, is doing and will continue to do in our lives! Bible passages from Psalm 23 and John 10 taught us that Jesus is our Good Shepherd who cares for us, provides for all our needs, leads us in good paths, forgives us and protects us from sin, Satan and death! Children learned and even memorized much of Psalm 23 as it was prevalent in our Bible lessons, hymns, songs, crafts, games and even snacks!
As we learned about Jesus gathering us together as His Church, His body, we also talked about how to care for others in His Church. Our VBS mission project this year supported both the LCMS “Tin Roofs for Africa” initiative and The Wolf Pack (John, Jenn, and family) heading to Nairobi this month to begin mission work in Africa. The children's response was quite impressive as they did an excellent job bringing in their daily offerings giving $84 to support our mission project!
Jesus has indeed gathered us together as His Church and we give Him thanks for His gracious care and providence in our lives. Moreover, we thank and praise Him for laying down His life for us (John 10:14–18) so that we may together dwell with Him in “the house of the Lord forever” (Psalm 23:6). Enjoy these photos of VBS week and enjoy being gathered into Christ's flock, the Church.
Serving with you in Christ,
Pastor Nettleton
