It is not by works of the Law that we are justified: the righteous live only by faith in Christ. He redeemed us through an accursed death on the cross. He has pity on us and calls us to repentance. He lays hold of us in mercy and grants us peace. He takes our sin upon Himself, so that we shall not die but live. And, like the woman who anointed His feet, washing them with her tears and drying them with her hair, we worship and love Him because our “sins, which are many, are forgiven.”
