There is only one source of life, only one saving Gospel. So Paul is astonished to hear that the Galatians were turning to a different gospel. He calls down a curse on any “gospel other than the one we preached to you,” for that Gospel alone saves. It saves as it reveals God, whose kindness is manifested in Christ. He whose mighty word is faithful to what He promises comes to us in Word and Sacrament to dwell in us and bring to all who trust His promise the gift of everlasting life.
