Saint John's Food and Clothing Bank thanks you so much! What a lot of groceries you donated to the Food Bank in November. It took a long time to store it all away! Your Thanksgiving offering of food is much appreciated by the workers (Fran and Barb) and especially by our customers. More food donations came in at the Pops Band Concert held here in December. Come by some Tuesday in January between 9:00 and 11:30 and see how your donations are appreciated.
The Board gave twelve Thanksgiving Dinners to needy families at Laurel. The Board put these together and Bill Funke and Leon Knox delivered them to the school the week of Thanksgiving.
You picked up and purchased gifts for 74 children from Laurel Elementary from this year’s Giving Tree. Many thanks for filling this tall order! Bill and Leon delivered the presents December 17. A parent of one of the recipients wrote a card addressed to “God’s angels”, saying, “You have given my children a smile this Christmas. Your support is greatly appreciated. May God continue to bless you as you continue to bless others.” You also took twelve ornaments representing some of our homebound members. We have heard many sweet stories of God blessing the “givers”—He always seems to bless us as much, if not more, than those who receive the gifts. Have a great time spreading Christmas Joy with others this year!
Hush the noise, ye men of strife, and hear the angels sing. It Came Upon a Midnight Clear
