The Board of Human Needs is running our annual Baby Bottle Campaign for the Alpha Center. This project began on Mother’s Day and ends Father’s Day. Bottles were distributed at the end of services for families to fill with coins, bills or checks as donations to the Alpha Center. As you fill your bottle, let your children be part of the giving. Explain as much as you feel they are ready to hear about making healthy choices as they grow in age and in Christ. Remember to return the bottles by Father’s Day to the Welcome Center or the church office. Last year we collected over $700 for the Alpha Center. Let’s see if we can top that this year!
The Food and Clothing Bank continues to be open to the public on Tuesday mornings from 9:00 to 11:30. We are currently low on baby’s clothing. We could also use seasonal clothes for children or adults—gently used and clean items only, please. Small household items are always appreciated, as well. Donations can be left at the Welcome Center or in the back part of the Small Fellowship Hall during the week.
Many thanks to Marlys Hansen, Dorla Dittrcih, Sandy Shields, Kay Platte and Norma Kruse—our regulars in the Clothing Bank. In the Food Bank, the work is done weekly by Barb Faucett and Fran Roth. If you are looking for a way to volunteer at Saint John’s during the week, an extra pair of hands is always welcomed. (The Coffee Break is at 10:00, if you don’t have time for the entire morning!) Come and join us any Tuesday.
If you would like to be a part of the Human Needs Board and be in on all the human needs projects we sponsor, please consider joining us. We meet quarterly and are looking to include all Saint John’s members who have a heart for addressing the needs of the disadvantaged in Fort Collins.
Our next meeting is Saturday, July 14, at 9:00 am in Room 301. We will be preparing for our next project—School Book Bags for Laurel Elementary. We are also looking at the possibility of including national and foreign missions under our board. So all you “Heseders,” pay attention …
Jesus reminds us, “I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.” (Matthew 25:40)
