On March 28, over thirty volunteers from Saint John’s worked together to provide a meal for about 120 people on Behalf of The Matthews House. The families were clients of The Matthews house who have worked either directly with staff (improving parenting skills, a housing situation or employment) or through involvement in a Community Life Center.

Many thanks to Linda Funke, who coordinated the meal and did so much work to make this great event happen, and to all those who were involved in one way or another in providing the dinner. Lise Harwell, a Saint John’s member who works at The Matthews House, said “We heard many compliments about the food, and I know families had a lot of fun!”

Linda mentioned that she was already talking to volunteers about “next time,” so be sure to watch for this event again next spring!

The Board of Human Needs finds opportunities for the members of Saint John’s to provide a Christian witness by helping people in the community struggling with daily necessities.
