Open Arms Preschool has started another year with many wonderful families and their children. We have added several families since school began, but still have a few openings if you know anyone interested in coming. Please have them give me a call and come to visit a class. I would also like to extend an invitation to members of Saint John’s to stop by and visit one of our classes and see the joy and learning that is happening here. We want to thank you all for establishing Open Arms as an outreach for many families in the community. I have seen and heard the appreciation from them through the years for this opportunity to grow in God’s love at the preschool and other church events in which they have participated. Thank You!
On Sunday, November 13, we will be having a bake sale during the coffee hour. There will be items to enjoy with your coffee, such as caramel pecan rolls, and items to purchase and take home. We are always working to improve the facilities and program of the preschool and your generous support in the past has been a wonderful boost. We hope you will continue that support on November 13.
Fun Thanksgiving Activities
Here are a few fun Thanksgiving-themed activities that you can share with your children or grandchildren.
Corny Napkin Rings: Cut four 2½” rings from a cardboard tube, cover with strips of construction paper, then brush glue over the construction paper and roll the rings in a small plate of popcorn kernels until covered.
Thankful Hands: Trace around your child’s hand on construction paper and cut out the shape. Ask child to think of five things for which they are thankful, write one on each finger, then have your child decorate the hand.
Sharing with others: Place a large basket on a table where it can be seen. Each time you and your child go to the grocery store, let your child pick out a can of food to put in the basket. When the basket is full, let your child help you take it to the Food Bank.
Thanksgiving Time Song: Sing this to the tune of “The Farmer in the Dell”:
Thanksgiving time is here.
Let’s give a great big cheer
For food and friends and family.
Thanksgiving time is here.
Have a Wonderful Thanksgiving!
