December Open Arms Preschool Report

What an exciting fall we have had at Open Arms Preschool. The nine children in the Preschool class have learned about different animals, foods, family and home and Thanksgiving. They will be celebrating the birth of Christ in December by learning how many of our Christmas traditions and decorations all represent our wonderful Lord and Savior.

The children in the Pre-Kindergarten class have enjoyed visits to the Environmental Learning Center, a pumpkin patch and the Fort Collins Museum. November was an opportunity to learn more about the wonderful country that we live in, how the pilgrims arrived for freedom of worship, the help from the Native Americans and the fun tall tales that are part of our country’s history. They also prepared a Thanksgiving feast for their families and church staff by making pumpkin bread, chicken salad and fruit salad. They will also be learning of the importance of many Christmas traditions and how they represent the birth of Jesus in December.

We wish to invite members of Saint John’s to come to the Christmas Program presented by the Preschool and Pre-Kindergarten classes on Thursday, December 16, at 6:30 pm in the Large Fellowship Hall.

We want to send a really super big thank you to all the members of Saint John’s who purchased the delicious items at the preschool bake sale at the end of September. Your generosity has gone a long way in helping us raise the funds we need to build a small storage building on the playground to better protect the tricycles and other toys that the children use there. Thank you, also, to those who donated to Open Arms Preschool through the Thrivent Choice Dollars program. Open Arms is very grateful for the monetary support and for all the other donations and support through extra materials, information, help with projects, emotional support and, especially, for all your prayers for staff, children and their families.

Because Mrs. Wise, who was our substitute teacher last year, is now the full time assistant in the classroom, we have need for someone who could be on call if case Mrs. Kirk or Mrs. Wise is unable to be at school due to illness or other events that arise. If you are willing or able to do this, please call the preschool or let someone know in the church office. Thank you!

God bless you all. Have a very merry Christmas!
