Have you directed your Thrivent Choice Dollars yet? It’s that time of year again, when eligible Thrivent Financial for Lutherans members need to direct their 2011 designated amount of Thrivent Choice Dollars to their chosen charitable recipient before the March 31 deadline. (This does not include those who made the direction of their designated dollars recurring.) Choice Dollars can be directed to Lutheran organizations you prefer nationwide, including Saint John’s!
Since Thrivent Financial for Lutherans is a not-for-profit fraternal benefit society, dollars that would otherwise go for taxes are instead made available for various fraternal and charitable causes. If you are an eligible Thrivent benefit member, please be sure to direct your allotment of 2011 Choice Dollars before March 31, 2012, by signing up online at thrivent.com or calling 1-800-847-4836 and saying “Thrivent Choice” to speak to a live operator. If you are unsure whether or not you are eligible, contact Nancy Behm at 225-6586.
In 2011, Saint John’s received $12,248 through the Thrivent Choice Dollars program. The Saint John’s Foundation received an additional $6,613 and Open Arms Preschool received $477. The impact of the total Choice Dollars program is huge. In 2011, approximately 20,000 Lutheran congregations and organizations have benefited from more than $52 million in Thrivent Financial grant funds through Choice Dollars recommendations.
If you are already directing your Choice Dollars, thank you! Remember, if you did not make your direction recurring, you will have to contact Thrivent each year, either online or by phone to continue to direct the dollars to your preferred organization(s).
