We have been blessed with a new refrigerator in the downstairs kitchen area. Those of you who have brought in food over the last year know that our old fridge, which has served the church for untold ages, was starting to freeze items left in it for any length of time. When it started acting up, the Foundation Board and Board of Trustees started looking into options to repair or replace it. Because of the cost of old parts and labor, it just wasn’t economical to fix up the old fridge.
Instead, they found a commercial-grade model that is twice the size of our old unit. It arrived about a month ago and has been installed in the back part of the kitchen. This one unit replaced both the main refrigerator in the main kitchen area and the supplemental fridge(s) that used to sit in its spot.
The money to pay for the new refrigerator came from three sources. Nearly half of the funds were designated for this project by Marian Lemmon and her family from the memorials given in memory of her husband, Harry, and his mother, Louise. Thrivent Choice Dollars, money designated to Saint John’s by Thrivent members in the congregation, covered the balance.
