Have you directed your Thrivent Choice Dollars yet? It’s that time of year again, when eligible Thrivent Financial for Lutherans members need to direct their 2011 designated amount of Thrivent Choice Dollars to their chosen charitable recipient before the March 31 deadline. (This does not include those who made the direction of their designated dollars recurring.) Choice Dollars can be directed to Lutheran organizations you prefer nationwide, including Saint John’s!

Thrivent Cares—Members Share: showing love and compassion to those we serve!
Irish Elementary Project
The first Thrivent Cares—Members Share ninety-day mission project for 2012 will be to support the teachers at Irish Elementary School in north Fort Collins by helping them prepare for the spring semester. Irish is a very high poverty school with its teachers facing rigorous demands. The teachers often purchase school supplies and other basic student needs out of their own pockets. If you are interested in sponsoring a teacher by helping to fulfill their “wish list,” we will have more information available in future bulletins on how you can support those who are supporting many.

To everyone at Saint John’s: Thank you so much for supporting me while at seminary! It’s so good to hear about all the neat things going on at Saint John’s from my parents. I can’t wait to be back with you all for Christmas. The financial assistance and prayers have been such a blessing. My time at the seminary so far has been a blast! Support from you and many others reminds me just how blessed my time at the seminary is by God and His purpose.

Help us to give the gift of a “Green Christmas” to local families in need. This is our seventh year of partnering with local Lutheran Congregations to provide families in need with a Christmas Tree and Decorations. This project is dependent on the generous donations and support of our church members. As our service continues to grow, so does our need for new and used decorations, artificial trees or cash donations to buy supplies. If you have extra Christmas items that you can donate or would like to purchase lights and decorations, please drop them off to the Church office by Friday, December 9.
