Wow! What a great ending to Kid’s Night Out—Bible Blast! this past February 9th. There were thirty-one children who attended that night. We were blessed with wonderful volunteers and happy parents. The children had so much fun playing games together that “clean up time” took just a little longer. Then off to Bible adventures and praise time. God has truly shown His favor, the past four years, on Kid’s Night Out—Bible Blast! All glory be to Him.
A BIG thank you so everyone who gave from their heart to the Hearts For Jesus—Giving Gardens mission project! It only took two weeks to reach our goal of $500. The “garden” on the wall in the Large Fellowship Hall had over 50 carrots by the middle of the month. (Each carrot represented $10 towards buying seeds for missionaries to help provide food for the hungry. It will also give opportunity for missionaries to plant seeds of faith in those spiritually hungry.) March 6 will be the last day to contribute. It will be exciting to see what our actual giving will end up being. Watch the bulletin and the Children’s Ministry Board for the final total!
Our “Together With Jesus” Sunday School class teacher, Diana Fields, is our new coordinator for the Children’s Lenten Art Show. She has been involving the children in this year’s art show and preparing them for participation in the event. Be watching the wall in the Large Fellowship Hall for Saint John’s 9th Annual Children’s Art Show. We are so pleased that Open Arms Preschool will be joining us in this event once again.
The Sunday School children will be singing in the 6:30 pm Ash Wednesday worship service on March 9. You are invited to also attend the meal in the Large Fellowship Hall before the service.
Last month, the children in the Sunday School began a “Countdown to Passover” learning process that takes place at the beginning of the Sunday School hour. Through Moses, God saved the Israelites from slavery in Egypt. Each Sunday, the children explore one of the plagues sent upon the Egyptians. They are creating special individual booklets throughout this process as a reminder of God’s power and His care for His people. The children have also received a Lenten Sticker Journey to enjoy at home called, “Let God’s People GO! The children will discover that through the saving grace of Jesus, we are led from slavery to sin into life everlasting. A centerpiece is used as a “map” that is marked along the way with the stickers in this Lenten “guidebook.” Prayers and reading are included. We will conclude this “Countdown to Passover” during the Sunday School Hour on Palm Sunday, April 17, in the Small Fellowship Hall, with a children’s version of the Passover Meal.
