The mission and vision of Saint John's Children's Ministry is to provide opportunities for children to follow Jesus in order to help parents build lifelong disciples by joyfully sharing God’s love and His Word with His children.

We are hoping our Sunday School children and their families attended the Seder Meal and presentation by Larry Dubin on March 28. What a wonderful experience for them to go through the same ritual meal that the Israelite people did every year to commemorate their safely leaving Egypt. It makes history and the Bible come to life.

The children of the Sunday School sang two special songs on Ash Wednesday. Thanks to the children for ministering to us in this worship service. Thanks also to the parents who brought their children and gave them this opportunity!

Wow! What a great ending to Kid’s Night Out—Bible Blast! this past February 9th. There were thirty-one children who attended that night. We were blessed with wonderful volunteers and happy parents. The children had so much fun playing games together that “clean up time” took just a little longer. Then off to Bible adventures and praise time. God has truly shown His favor, the past four years, on Kid’s Night Out—Bible Blast! All glory be to Him.

There is one more Kid’s Night Out—Bible Blast! this school year. Wednesday, February 9, is the date! We will begin at 5:30 pm with pizza, pop and games. From 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm, preschoolers and Kindergarteners will enjoy LiL’K in the Blanket Fort, and children in grades 1–6 will gather for KiDMo! in the Large Fellowship Hall. The younger children will learn that even though they are small they can do big things with God’s help. The older children are “Agents in Motion” as they begin their mission of being life-changers in their family, community, and even their world. This high impact, media-driven Bible experience only costs $3.00 per child. We encourage you to help your children bring their friends and register today!

What a wonderful celebration of Jesus’ birth we experienced on Sunday, December 19. The Family Christmas Worship Service was full of praise and glory to God as the children and youth shared their gifts to the King in word and song. Three new ones became lambs of our Heavenly Father through the waters of Holy Baptism. What joy! All of the children in the Sunday School have now been baptized. The Holy Spirit dwells in them. Praise be to God! Their precious little hearts and minds are so impressionable and delicate. We pray that they continue to be nurtured in God’s Word and instructed in love, so that when they are grown they will continue to share God’s love and His Word with their children and all those they meet. Thank you to the parents, teachers and all those who help make that morning so special.

In Psalm 127:3, it says, “Children are a gift from the Lord.” That they truly are! At the beginning of this school year, I was privileged to attend the parent orientations for our Open Arms Preschool. It was a rather informal affair, with parents and teachers sitting in wee-little child chairs, listening and sharing while children played in open areas of the room. During one of the sessions, while Mrs. Kirk informed the parents of procedures in the preschool, I snuck away to play and interact with the children for a little bit. When it was my turn to introduce the “happenings” of Saint John’s Children’s Ministry, welcome families and invite them to events, I came back to the little chairs and began speaking to the parents. All of a sudden a preschool girl came right up to me with a big smile, hugged me and kissed me on the cheek and then went off to play again. What a gift that was for me! Precious and pure was her love.
