“But the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.’” (Luke 2:10-11)
“Ring Out The Good News” is the theme for the Family Christmas Service Sunday, December 20 at 10:00 am. There will only be one worship service that morning. Everyone attending will benefit from the children and youth leading in a transition from the Advent season to the celebration of Christmas and onto the sharing of the Savior with others. Please bring a bell with you to the service that day to ring with the children during a special “bell” song. You can bring any kind of bell that you would like. We hope to have a great variety for a joyful ringing! All the children and youth are preparing for this worship service. It is very important that they be in Sunday School each Sunday as they get ready.
The Sunday School offerings from March until now will be going to purchase children and youth Bibles for a new “baby” church that is only four weeks old! It is Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Aurora, Colorado. This newly born church will have its first Christmas worship and be truly blessed with our “ringing out the good news of Jesus” from the Bibles we give to them. The pastor there, the Rev. J. Lappe, is very excited and thankful. He told me that there are anywhere from five to twenty children already in Sunday School each week at Cross of Christ. This will be a wonderful gift for them. If you are interested in further donating towards this project there is still time.
After the 10:00 am Family Christmas Worship Service, on December 20, we need volunteers to Christmas paper wrap these Bibles. Also, we are in need of someone representing Saint John’s to deliver these Bible presents to the church in Aurora on either December 21, 22 or 23. The children there will then be able to open these wonderful gifts of God’s Word on Christmas at their new church to be used in their Sunday School! Let me know if you would like to be a special part of any of these opportunities to serve the Lord.
